Milan, Itay - We are excited to announce the return of the Milan Machinima Festival to IULM University for its seventh edition. The festival will be held from March 11-17, 2024 and will feature the most avant-garde machinima works from around the globe.
The Milan Machinima Festival celebrates the world’s most exceptional machinima and filmmakers who use video games and related technologies to for creative and critical purposes. The event features a diverse selection of game-based videos created by talented artists and practitioners whose work intersects video art, cinema, animation, and gaming. The selected artworks are chosen by an international panel of jurors and a team of curators based on their cultural significance, artistic excellence, and innovative style.
The 2024 edition of the festival promises to be bolder and more exciting than ever before. It will include screenings of the finest game-based artworks from all over the world, along with panel discussions and workshops. The Milan Machinima Festival is returning to IULM University where it was originally introduced in 2018, demonstrating the school's commitment to innovation and creativity in the arts. IULM University has been a pioneer in the machinima movement since its inception and has played an important role in shaping the future of this dynamic medium. Matteo Bittanti, the artistic director and associate professor of media studies at IULM, expressed his enthusiasm for bringing the Milan Machinima Festival back to IULM University, stating that this event has always been about showcasing the cutting edge in machinima filmmaking.
